how we teach and why
Our approach to early learning
Everything here runs on play based learning: real choices, unhurried days and educators who follow your child's curiosity wherever it leads.
Children learn through play, at their own pace. Our job is not to hurry them along. It is to notice what lights them up and give them more of it.
the four pillars
What play based learning looks like here
Play based learning
Play is the work. A child stacking blocks is testing gravity, and a child stirring pretend soup is telling a story. We set up our rooms and our days so that kind of deep play can stretch out, uninterrupted.
Emergent curriculum
We follow the children's interests instead of a fixed theme calendar. If the room falls in love with worms after a rainy walk, out come the magnifying glasses and the worm books, for as long as the fascination lasts.
Outside every day
Rain or shine, we go out. Puddle jumping in boots, digging in the dirt, chalk on the pavement. We only stay inside when the weather is truly unsafe.
Unhurried routines
Nobody here gets rushed. Snack takes as long as snack takes, tidy up comes with a gentle warning first, and there is always time to do up your own zipper, even when it takes a while.

What a day feels like
Three little scenes from the day we are building, the kind you can picture your own child in.
the door opens
Arriving and settling in
Your child hangs their coat on their own hook and an educator crouches down to say good morning. Some kids run straight for the blocks. Some need a lap and a book first, and that is fine too.
the room hums
Deep play in the morning
By mid morning there is paint drying on the easel, a fort growing in the corner and a pot of pretend soup that has been simmering for half an hour. Nobody is told to hurry up.
the room exhales
Calm afternoons
After lunch the lights dim and everything slows down. Nappers nap, quiet resters look at books, and the afternoon winds gently through puzzles, snack and one more trip outside.
no surprises
How we talk with parents
You hear from us every day. Infant and toddler families get the practical details like meals, naps and diaper changes, and every family gets the little stories that matter, like a first step or a new friend.
At pick up we tell you the truth, kindly. If there was a hard moment or a squabble over a toy, you will hear it from us first, along with how we handled it.
No surprises is a promise. If something changes about your child's day, their room or our team, you will know before it happens, not after.
the cozy details
Food and rest
Meals and snacks
Meal times are calm and social, never rushed, with children helping to set up and clear away. We are still finalizing our menus, so ask us on your tour how food will work in each room.
Naps and quiet time
Little ones sleep on their own schedules, not ours, and infants nap whenever they need to. Older children who have outgrown naps get quiet time with books instead of a forced sleep.
gentle guidance
Guiding behaviour with kindness
When feelings get big, we get close and calm. We name the feeling, keep everyone safe and help children find words for what they need.
We coach friendships the same way, one small moment at a time. You will not find a time out chair here, because we would rather teach the skill than punish the struggle.
